I doubt the cardinal sees you as an enemy, if he sits there watching you. By now he knows your routine, too, so if he didn't want to hang out there he could just fly away. Maybe you and the dog are interesting events in his day.
Oh, the glass salesman. We have so many little encounters like this in our lives. Kudos to you for not gloating or rubbing his face in it. A cheery "thank you" is what I aspire to in such situations, if I can manage it. Like: Dude, I didn't come here to fight, but please don't add one more unfair thing, no matter how small, to this world of unfair things.
And when I'm in the cashier's shoes, I try to remind myself: Just say you're sorry. It's OK to admit you're wrong. The sky will not fall.
Why is it so hard to do that, I wonder? But it's usually a relief when I do.
It was such a weird encounter (the bird and the clerk). The bird, because he always surprises me, how in my face he is. And the clerk-- I kept thinking, why is he taking this so personally? Does he own the store? Is he the one who mis-marked the glasses? When I have been in his position, I laugh and say, Wow! You got a deal!
Does your state not have a law that says businesses must honor price as marked?! If that had been in my state (CA) and the cashier was following the law, they would have sold you the first two at the price marked then corrected the error on the other glasses. I do think it's a good thing you are elsewhere or you might not have gotten the $12 savings on the other 4, lol 😝
I assume we do. What was weird is that the price sticker said 15.95 but the glasses rang up as 18.95. The store's problem, not mine. But not something I assumed was intentional or fraudulent. Just a mistake. So why was the clerk so touchy about it?!
Jody, I so love Charlie Harper! And this story! Now i want to go get some cardinal glasses at CMA and see what they charge me! LOL
Go get some, Kathy! (But I'm afraid I might have ruined the price for you ha ha)
