Jody, I so love Charlie Harper! And this story! Now i want to go get some cardinal glasses at CMA and see what they charge me! LOL

I doubt the cardinal sees you as an enemy, if he sits there watching you. By now he knows your routine, too, so if he didn't want to hang out there he could just fly away. Maybe you and the dog are interesting events in his day.

Oh, the glass salesman. We have so many little encounters like this in our lives. Kudos to you for not gloating or rubbing his face in it. A cheery "thank you" is what I aspire to in such situations, if I can manage it. Like: Dude, I didn't come here to fight, but please don't add one more unfair thing, no matter how small, to this world of unfair things.

And when I'm in the cashier's shoes, I try to remind myself: Just say you're sorry. It's OK to admit you're wrong. The sky will not fall.

Why is it so hard to do that, I wonder? But it's usually a relief when I do.
