Somehow my rabbits seem to burrow under the fence and eat my plants. I had green beans ready to flower last year and went out one morning and there were stems with no leaves and no flowers so I didn't get any beans! Undeterred, I have planted beans again but I have not seen any signs of them. Potatoes are up and zucchini , lettuce and tomatoes look good. But where are the beans??????

I just planted beans and now I have a new fear unlocked: that the rabbit will burrow under the fence! Yikes!

The ones that get me are the squirrels, who take bites out of the tomatoes when the weather's dry and they need liquid. But what they do is take ONE bite out of EACH tomato, instead of just taking one whole one! Ah, critters and gardens.

I don't know if it's helpful, but one piece of writing advice I've heard for being stuck is: What's the worst decision the character could make right now? Have her do that.

OOH!! I love that idea. Going to try it right now! Also, I've had the problem with the squirrels before and never realized it was because they were thirsty. Now I feel bad for them too. Maybe I should have a second garden just for animals...

Sometimes I see recommendations to include a "source of water" in our yards / gardens for the birds and critters, but I've never seen a satisfactory explanation of how to do that without its becoming a mosquito-breeding ground ...
